I love the month of December for many reasons. For many of us we celebrate the Christmas holiday for others it gives us an excuse to play holiday music on repeat without seeming weird (okay maybe it's a little odd...but I love it).
The other reason I love December is that I get to reflect on the year and finalize plans for the upcoming business season.
And, this year I have so much to be thankful for. But, my note to you today is not to share my list of what I'm thankful for with you it's to ask you an honest, heart to heart (can we be real with each other question).
What do you really want out of life?
As business leaders, we are constantly tracking the goals, performance, metrics and staying on-top of our own personal development while also mentoring our teams. We keep our eye on the busy work to ensure it is productive and income producing for both ourselves and our teams.
How frequently do we stop to ask ourselves "Is this the life I really wanted?" Now, don't get me wrong there's a time and place for rest and relaxation to match the consistent work that we do. But, lately, when I talk with my clients and even colleagues there is one trend constantly coming up over and over again.
Unnecessary exhaustion that opens the door for leakage within the business.
You see, most businesses grow to a point that the company has taken on a life of its own. And, this is what you want to happen but many leaders aren't ready for that shift and it leaves them feeling as if a mack truck has run them over.
As you prepare for 2019 I want you to ask yourself the question "What do you really want out of life?" and if your strategic plan for 2019 doesn't match up then it's time to realign priorities and stop the leakage before it starts.
Over the next few weeks. I'll speak more about this topic, specifically to bring insights to you to help to keep the main things the main things (no matter how far they've run off track).
To the health, stability, and growth of your company (and you).
